Astana Project

A relatively recent project in the Sultanate has been the reconstruction of Darul Jambangan (Palace of Flowers). The historic Astana Palace, residence of the Sultans of Sulu in Maimbung, Sulu since 1878 was unfortunately destroyed by a typhoon in 1932. This important piece in the history of the Sultanate has been painstakingly reconstructed at a smaller scale by local architects and artisans at Mount Bayug in Talipao, Sulu.

This royal landmark was made possible with the invaluable support of Col. Romulo Quemado II, Gen. Jose Joriel Cenabre and other officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and by The Hon. Governor of Sulu, Datu Shahbandar Abdusakur Mahail Tan Al Haj.
