Today we celebrate the 8th coronation anniversary of His Royal Majesty Ampun Sultan Hadji Muedzul-Lail Tan Kiram, The 35th Sultan of Sulu and North Borneo.
On the insistence of the people of Sulu and with the strong support of the Ruma Bichara (council of elders), His Royal Majesty was officially crowned 25 years after the passing of his father at the historical site of the Darul Jambangan in Maimbung, Sulu.
...In accordance with the royal law of succession, His Royal Highness Moh. Ehsn Serman Kiram, as the eldest son of His Royal Majesty, was crowned as Raja Muda of Sulu (Crown Prince).
The ceremony was conducted by Imam Jamiul Jasim who was appointed as royal Imam by the late Sultan Moh. Esmail Enang Kiram in 1960. Among the hundreds present to witness the momentous event was the Hon. Hussin Amin, Mayor of Jolo, as a representative of the Philippine government.
